It takes application-consistent, incremental backups of your virtual machines and applications at the times you choose, and it runs inside your cluster rather than through a separate backup product.

A crash-consistent backup captures data as it sits on the disk at a given moment, which may leave databases and multi-tier applications in an unclean state. CubeDPX first quiesces the workload to capture application-consistent backups, ensuring that applications are recoverable in a usable state. A restore brings back a working application rather than a corrupted copy.

Yes, you only need to define backup policies once. You set the schedule, retention, and scope per workload or tenant, and CubeDPX enforces the policies automatically. The full backup lifecycle is driven through a RESTful API and CLI, so data protection is automated instead of being a manual, per-VM effort.

CubeDPX stores backups as immutable copies in S3-compatible storage with retention lock capabilities. These copies cannot be altered or deleted for a defined retention period.
